Raef New Album Mercy Out
3 May 2019
This album is an invitation to welcome mercy into your own life. An invitation to passionately seek mercy, and to be a source of mercy for yourself and those around you. Every song on this album is a fruit from a tree rooted in the soil of ra’fah (clemency). Tunes that express endless love for the Prophet of mercy, peace be upon him. Songs that celebrate the month of mercy, the beauty of creation, and the miracle of new life. Lyrics that express gratitude in seeking grace from our Creator and being merciful with one’s self and community.
I’ve learned to let go of what I cannot control, and to embrace the present moment as it is. I am thankful to Allah for allowing me to continue creating music as I navigate the next season of my life and pray the songs on this album will be a soundtrack to your journey in seeking mercy.
sincerely,
Raef

Raef’s Message:
Bismillah - in the name of Allah, the supremely Merciful, the most Kind. The last several years have been a whirlwind of thorny challenges and immeasurable blessings. In a world where senseless violence rages on, piercing poverty persists, and narcissism is normalized, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain a still heart. And though my path has taken me through expectedly unexpected turns, nothing has illustrated the good of this world more to me than the notion of rahmah (mercy). The hope and warmth that comes with compassion has carried me through personal trials and troubling times - and it has affected my writing and music.
Sharing music has given me an opportunity to travel and absorb the stories of many around the world, each paving their own unique paths. I have witnessed the mentality of mercy bring hearts closer together in the face of tragedy. From Nashville to Bandung and Cairo to London - pursuing a pathway towards compassion has put me in touch with talented musicians, producers, and film-makers - nothing I could have planned myself or even imagined.
